If you are an Individual or business engaged in the construction, repair, remodeling or addition to any land or building used as a residence in New York City you must have a Home Improvement Contractor license. You may not begin to work as a Home Improvement Contractor until you have received your license document.

1) Proof of Formation 2) Sales Tax Identification Number.

3) Proof of business address, two (2) photocopy of the following documents: 4) Proof of your Residence address, two (2) photocopy of the following documents: 5) If you live at another person's address, you must submit a signed notarized letter from this person stating that you live with that person and proof of address of that person (as outlined above) containing that person's full name and address.

6) Person applying for Home Improvement License must go to the DCA Licensing center with photo ID to be fingerprinted.

7) Workers' Compensation Insurance (if applicable)

8) Written Exam. (will be taken at at the time you submit your application at DCA)

9) Home Improvement Salesperson's License. At least one of the proprietors, partners, owners or corporate officers of the applicant must have a Department of Consumer Affairs Home Improvement Salesperson license or have submitted an application for a Home Improvement Salesperson license OR the applicant must employ a licensed Home Improvement Salesperson.
