What is the procedure to set up a d.b.a. (doing business as) in new york state?
Reply : infotaxsquare.com

If it is a sole proprietor then it has to be registered with your county and if you are creating a dba for your corporation then it must be filed with the state.

My husband and I went to the court house and told the clerk we wanted to open a business. We gave her the name of the business and she put that on the piece of paper and then put both of us down as owners. Now the bank says we can not open an account because you can;t have two owners on a DBA. Is this true? We have checks that we need to deposit and they will not let us open account.

Am setting up a dba on your website. Our corporation is Airware, Inc. out of NV. We are doing buisiness in CA. The new name is Glucoware. Please advise if we need a suffix like ", Inc." as we are a corporation, or is it typical to use "Company" or "Co."? Please advise ASAP. Thx, Tom 805-377-1690

You cannot add a suffix like Inc. LLC with your dba You should simply use "dba name" or contact us for any help.

You are not required to register a business name, if you are using your own  legal given name to advertise your business.

I am Professional Engineer in California. I am hoping to form Solo proprietorship. I am paranoid about giving my Social security number to vendors who I render my Professional services to.I fear misuse. Can I apply for EIN number with IRS for my Fictitious Business name. What would it cost me for your services
Reply : infotaxsquare.com

You will use your social security number if you are doing business under sole proprietorship. An Employer Identification Number can be obtained under sole proprietorship to hire employees, otherwise it is not required for a sole proprietorship business structure
