 Any retailer selling tobacco product in Ohio is required to obtain a license from Ohio Department of Taxation.


What is the procedure to get a license? 



  • You will submit the application to the Ohio Department of Taxation. Once a license has been issued, the Department of Taxation will send you  the necessary information to file tax returns and pay your liability.
  • You must have a sales tax license in order to apply for the license.
  • Licenses are to be renewed annuall.

  • If your supplier is charging the tax, their invoice should indicate that the tax was paid and show the account number issued by the Ohio Department of Taxation.
  • You have to comply the state and local laws to keep your license in good standing.
