How to file a DBA in Ohio?
 


Purpose of Filing a Trade Name or Fititious Name in Ohio

 

You file a Trade Name application with the Ohio Secretary of State if either registering business as a sole proprietorship or adding additional names under your legal entity is registered with the OH Secretary of State. 


Following is the requirement to file a DBA in Ohio:

  • Provide the name and address including county of th registrant.
  • Purpose to create a Trade Name.

Open a Bank Account



You should open a bank account to record your business activities for tax filings.

 

Apply Employer Identification Number (EIN)

 

You may need to apply for an EIN if hiring employees otherwise it is not required for the Sole Proprietorship Business.

Contact your county and local government to determine if any special requirements exist for your type of business.
